Header w/o O2 sensor hole....?? - Toyota Yaris Forums

I'm a bit disappointed to find out the header i ordered does not have the O2 sensor hole. If i go into a shop to have them weld one on...what details will they need? threading, placement, etc?? I was planning on installing the header myself.

I they know the size of the sensor and threads then they should have different sized bungs that they can weld into place for you for you sensor to screw into

Just tell them you need an O2 sensor bung installed and show them where it needs to go. Make sure it's TIG welded on if it's SS.

Or you can pre-purchase one and bring it to an actual welding shop.

Thanks guys. But I suppose my dilemma is this, I don't know where the bung should be placed as I will not have the stock manifold out yet to compare(suppose I can Google a picture of another header that does have the O2 hole already) ...same goes for the O2 sensor size. The plan is to install the header myself so I would just be taking the header in to the shop. Though I am wondering if I should just fork out the $$$ and have them install it. Wonder what I can expect for them to charge?

Just have a look at you header on the car now. You should be able to see the sensor and its approximate location.

Ok, guess I was assuming it was a bit hidden. I'll look this evening

It do not think it has to be in the exact location as the OEM try and get it in the general area and you should be good. It is M18x1.5 threading iirc.

Likely its an xB header, it does not have a bung. And if in fact it is an xB header the angle of the flange will be incorrect as well, it wont bolt up with a Yaris down-pipe. Send it back and get the right part.

just ensure it's installed about the 9:00 and 3:00 positions to keep condensation away from the sensor

It's OBX. Sold as direct fit for Yaris. I would have expected something like this from one of the no-name, Megan knockoffs off eBay... Well, guess I need to start calling some shops to price it out for the custom addition.

I would double check the part number, the only way the O2 would be missing from it is if they sent you the xB unit. If you have to have an O2 bung added, and modify the collector to mate up to the Yaris down-pipe, you are going to spend more than buying the right piece.

look at the picture on my thread..E85 Motor Build..
i ordered header too and it does not have sensor..
1. mark and drill the sensor on the header..trust me you will not drill all the way through..so..
2. get the welder and puncture through the marked spot
3. get the sensor ring from the old header and put it in the new header and weld carefully
4. put on the new header, you can reuse the gasket like i did
5. put the sensor on the new header
6. put your hand over the gasket area and look for any leaks
