Yari Boosted, Enge lite...

Hey Guys,

I just got my Yari boosted, and man, it sounds great, feels great, i am boosting about 0.4bar, but as soon as I start driving a bit, the Engine light goes on, the motor is 1krfe, and I need help very urgently!!!!

How is the best way to get rid of the limp mode! Over here I can get the car chipped no problem but I need help first and understand what it is doing and how I can get the problem sorted fast!!!

PLEASE HELP!!

You need to know boost and air/fuel when that happens. Lean or rich will determine two different fixes. Got gauges?

Parts list, please. Can't help much without knowing what you did to your car.

why not just larger injectors all around? Isn't that easier than managing an extra injector?

Hi Guys,

I now need some real help...
First, evrything is working, so the now the engine lite goes on, we try and add more feul because the problem is there, my meter shows it is running Lean (16.5) and no matter what you do it stays there, so he only thing in the way could be my exhaust is not big enough (48mm) or the map sensor\air flow meter is giving me stick because it is picking up boost.

if anyone knows where the am senor is please tel me, it is a 1krfe motor.

Please it is urgent, i really do not whant to break it or burn holes through my pistons.....

Thanks guys!!!

Hey guys,

I think I found the problem with adding a turbo...
this can aply to 1300cc and 1000cc after studing the wonderful diagrans I got here.

I added the turbo, working, sounding like an EVO... then came the feuling so I added a extra injector and a micro fueler using a hob switch to pick up boost and start pumping fuel.

and still not getting it...

this weekend I inspected the car, removed the throtle body and found that there is a Mass Airflow and map sensor in one, the same as you get on Honda and VW, and that is the problem with most of these things...

today it is getting tuned and A\F checked and so on...

as soon as I ca I will ad pics and vids for you guys.

Everyone has been a great help, and also one more note....

Building your on boost\intake and exhaust is a hell of lot of work especially from scratch.

Now oe thing I need is some pointers to keep in mind what not to do, my car wil get services every 7000Km's or so mostly oil as for the heat and every 11-14000Km for spark plugs belts etc...

Thanks Guys.

Wait, so you think the problem is the MAF/MAP sensor? Umm no. The car is doing what its supposed to do.

When the stock ECU sees boost, it freaks out. It will throw codes and go into limp mode immediately. Since there's no real engine management available for the Yaris, you have to trick the ECU with a piggyback or something that will clamp the map/maf voltage then add fuel/timing appropriately in boost. Adding one extra injector for fuel managment is probably the craziest thing I've ever seen, and trust me I've seen a lot.

Do you know what fuel pressure you're running? The yaris is a returnless system which probably operates on a static pressure no matter what, not the best idea in FI

What about ignition? Fuel is 1 part of tuning a car, timing is just as important? Need to retard timing in boost.

Glad to hear it sounds like an EVO though. Good job on that rofl

Thumbs up

Hey Guys,

Thanks!
But its already done and working....
Tuned to perfection....
Extra injector worked, but one more thing....
the problem is the MAP\MaF sensor, we did something to it...
and you know, there are no error codes, no limp mode,
no nothing, my A\F mix is 11.7 under boost, no detonaion...

I will take it to a Dyno and then show you what I got, plus pix...

I need to make it pretty now, he problems is sorted and that is all I needed for now...

And everything thanks to NC Speed Conversions SA, and Yaris world!!!

Nice to see a fellow South African on here.

Are you at the coast or up on the reef? That would put the power figures in perspective.

Looking forward to the dyno results.
