Thought I'd chime in since we are working with a customer on building a Yaris Rally/Rallycross car.

The Hot Bits coilovers can be ordered in many different levels from mild to wild, with many build options including long travel rally spec that keeps ride height stock or raises it. As mentioned above they are also extremely cheap and easy to service and rebuild.

There basic kits are as cheap as $950, with an remote resevoir adjustable DT1 kit at around $1600.

We've used them on our Rally America Lancer Ralliart with good results. They aren't Ohlins, but they are up there.

Hope this info is helpful.

I had Hotbits on my previous car (Mitsubishi VR4). It was used for all sorts of competition from motorkhanas, hill climbs, track days, tarmac rallies, grass motorkhanas etc. Pretty much everything except for full blown dirt rallies.
I had them on the car for 4 years and gave them hell and had no problems what so ever. I would definately recommend Hotbits over the other Chinese stuff floating around.

On another note, I picked up my rally suspension today. Here's a small taste of what's available when you go full custom.

Unless you actually want a crap ride, use shocks to stiffen the ride, not springs.

hmm, i'm really just starting to look at coilovers for my yaris. Some good stuff here, it'll be interesting to learn about everything. I've noticed a difference though, people say some coilovers aren't really worth it, while others are really good. From what I've seen so far, the hot bits ones are pretty good, and those D2's with all the different adjustments are pretty good too. I might as well get fully adjustable just to figure out what they all do and how they make the car handle more to my liking.

But with spring rates for coilovers, what are good ones for road & race? I assume anything above 10 k or so just won't be livable on a normal road, is this right?

I have stock shocks on the trd springs. The main thing is they are not low enough, stock yaris sits like a tractor and the trds didint help all that much. That is the reason i want coils to stiffen it up a bit.

If by "cheap" you mean price...I have not found Tein for any less than $955 and $1000 shipped is about the best I've seen. I have seen Megan for atleast $100-$150 lower than that so...I think that if by "cheap" you are talking price, Megan is cheaper.
