Yaris cruise control doesn't work
Hi There
I have a 2010 Yaris Hatchback with a standard transmission. I just purchased the 84632-08021 cruise control switch, wire and installed it as per instructions. http://web.newsguy.com/mcclure/Yaris...2020110315.pdf I turn on the cruise control, the light comes on my dashboard saying cruise is on, but it does not work. i cannot set the cruise speed. I have reviewed the installation instructions and everywhere seems to say you plug it in and it works... but mine doesn't. Has anyone come across this before? Thanks so much. |

Did you install the cruise control clutch switch, which per my DIY, is required for a manual transmission car?

It will make all the difference. The switch not being there is the same as the clutch pedal being touched, which cancels cruise (like stepping on the brake).

With a manual, the switch is there to disengage the cruise control if you depress the clutch.
In the table on page 1 of CTScott's instructions it says that that the wiring isn't necessary, but the switch is still needed. Maybe that is the point of confusion? Edit: CTScott must be a faster typist than me!

I just did the lightweight crank pulley yesterday, and I think it's my favorite mod so far! Good tradeoff between time and money spent and results!
Here's a decent thread where I threw some ideas around for what good mods to do on a reasonable budget. There are a couple more like this one as well, search around the site and you're bound to find something that sparks your interests.

Lighter weight, less parasitic power loss, easier to spin due to lower mass rotation...basically, more power is freed up.
