Stock HU with subs

Im planning on installing a 320w amp with 2x 8" subs with the stock HU. I was thinking of just splicing into the rear speaker wires and getting the signal that way as I dont want to buy a new HU. if I do this, I have a few questions:
1. will the rear speakers be too low? if so, will the fade setting help this?
2. where do I connect the wire to the amp so that it knows to turn on? could I just connect it to the ignition wire so that when it sees 12v on that wire it knows to turn on?
3. are 2x 8" subs ok for power? should I bridge them?
Thanks!
