Wheels on...might be a problem - Toyota Yaris Forums

I just put on my Axis wheels and the back is ok, but the front is kind of far out towards the cars fenderwell. They are 17x7 with +40mm offset with 215/40/17. Now I am defintily rethinkning how far I should lower it. does anyone have a +40mm offset on their wheels and have it lowered?

Mine is lowered...see the pics and specs in the bayou blue thread. You are one step too wide vs. stock.

Ok...so you are using 17x7 Offset 42 and 205/40/17...It seems it defenitely look perfect on your Yaris...But which brand and how low your springs in both front and rear are? Is there any fender rolling during your driving?

Since I am thinking also using 17x7 205/40/17 but with Offset 40, do you think this is a good set up if I plan to lower my car around 1.6"?

I have 17x7 wheels wit a +40mm offset and 215/40/17 tires and they are sticking too far out. Everyone is telling me I went too wide and to go with 205's.

ive put 205/40 tire on my 17in mag.. it fit #1 :p i ask the gurl about putting 215 and she said would be too large

Yes I agree...Some of my friends are all using 205 to 17" wheels on their echo and yaris...so 215 must be too wide

205/40 R17 is the right tire size for a 17" diameter wheel for the Yaris/Vitz.

215 is too wide, as you have encountered.

I agree. With a 40 offset your rims will be pushed pretty far out. The 205 should fit with A drop of 1.7. I have an offset of 42 with my 205/40/17 and a 1.7 drop. I have no issues at all with rubbing. I would think that the 215 will be very close. Experimenting on my car the front of the tire when turned out is plenty clear, but the back gets within a half an inch on my car. Since you have 40 it buys you two more mills then I have. The Front with the wheels turned in has plenty of room for the 215's. Kinda agamble.... To clear that up all of those remarks were made about the front axle.. The rears have plenty of room for a 215,,

Ya it looked like the 215's are like flush with the outside of the fender. Well just a tad bit narrower, but they do look like they stick out too far on that rim. My friend had them on an XB. The rims are awesome but the tire got me all bummed out. As Jay from C2Auton said they should camber in, but I would rather go with the sure thing. I am going to get 205's and then I believe the NF kit for a little bit of play in the suspension and in the drop. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Here is a pic of my Yaris S Sedan with the axis wheels. I think I am going to do the NF drop and see where the 215's sit. If they are too close for comfort then I am going to get the 205's

Kinda hard to tell with that pic. Looking at my car right now, I could have gone 215 in the rear, but the front would rub on U turns with the 215's. I can barely fit a finger between the inside fender lining and the tire. 215's would hit for sure with my drop and rim. Keep in Mind I am 42 offset. do the math. 205 to 215 is 10 mm. Half of that for one side of the tire only is 5mm. Your offeset is 40. This buys your two more mills on the inside fender well. But since the tires are 5 wider on the side then you are 3mm less clearance then me. I am thinking with a 1.7 drop it is going to be damn close.... The NF drop should be fine though...

Thanks for the info. Me and a friend decided to get the NF and see where it sits and if it cambers in some, but the 205's look like they would be the more convincing choice. The wheels and tires where from my friends Xb and he just sold them to me together. The tires are Toyo Proxes and were like $400 and we would hate to see them go.

Here are some pics from above of the front tire which is a 215. The tire is a little bit narrower then the outer fender, but the back will tuck. The wheels are 17x7 with a +40mm offset. Any thoughts?? I am open to suggestions.

Looks like a no to me.... Dont do much of a lower with that setup...

Take the 215s off, get 205s.

They will fit much better, more of a flush appearance with the rim.

i am going to probably go with 205's. I am going to order the NF kit right now and see where it sits. If we put it on the ground and it still looks like it will rub then the stocks go back on and 205's will be ordered. Think I would be fine then??

205's + 1.5~1.7 inch drop should be fine.

Note, this is for the hatch/liftback.
I'm sure it's fine for the sedan as well.
