Super Sensitive Horn
Ok, what's with the horn been so sensative. Mine is not the only one, someone else I know that picked up a little yaris hb said the same thing without me saying anything.
Anyone know of a way to desensatize the horn? I keep getting dirty looks in traffic or parking lots from people thinking I am hurrying them along when it was just that I barely touched the thing and it went off :( To be honest that is the only problem/bitch I have had with it, everything else about the car is great.

Change your steering wheel to one with just a small round horn button in the center I just got one, I'll post pics once it's installed

that's funny, i hadn't noticed sensitivity until this morning.
i was stopped at a set of lights, going to make a right hand turn and there was a cyclist ahead of me at the curb, i was just turning the wheel and the horn honked, he looked at me like i was a complete ass. i just yelled out the window, "sorry, unintentional horn honk!" |

I don't have problems with accidently honking. You people must be total spazmos or something.
You don't have to live with a wimpy horn though http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/sho...?t=1603&page=2 With those babies, if someone gives you a look - you just honk it again and yell "are you looking at me?". |

i thought i was the only 1? glad it's just not me, i've had my share of akward moments while driving, like this 1 time last week i accidently honked while behind some one during a red light, guy looks over at me through rear view mirror and u can read his lips as if he's say "come on?" either that or "f--- off"?

the wimpy horn is also fine with me, i would prefer to co-exist in a non-confrontational manner with my fellow motorists, afterall, the yaris isn't going to be instilling fear in many people. |

Napa sells a "Freeway Blaster Horn" at 130db for $16.00. Looks like a bargain!

I've accidentally hit the horn, twice . I only had the car for a few wks at the time, and hadn't really paid attention to the design of the horn. After taking a closer look at the horn switch (and making the appropriate adjustment in habit), it hasn't happened again.
I've actually grown to like the horn switch design. I think the problem for me initially, was that (a) I didn't realize how much surface area the switch covers, and (b) how deeply it extends into the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock spoke positions. In particular, I like the option to keep both grips on the wheel, and only move one hand slightly to have one thumb over the switch edge. Very handy when approaching a potentially dangerous situation (e.g. kids at a school trying to cross w/o realizing your approach). Of course, in a panic, the center punch is always there. As a footnote, I might be a wimp, but I like the Yaris' stock horn "beep" . Kinda fits the car, IMHO. Even though it's loud (well, compared to an old Cavalier at least), it's more polite-sounding than the typical American car "honk" (which is, from the link, what the Belta upgraded horn emulates). |

rarer than JDM -1 of 1!

I was about to ask this same question, but saw it was already covered with a search.
So Am I the only one "currently" honking at everyone and everything with this sensitive horn? I wanna change my steering wheel already. |
