Yaris rental car from National @ Dallas - Fort Worth Airport

I flew into Dallas today on business. My company recently switched from Hertz to National for rental cars. The thing I like better about National is that you get to pick your own car (where Hertz would have a pre-selected car waiting for you).

When I headed out to the lot to pick my car I had all of the usual beasts to choose from (Dodge Chargers, Chevy HHR's, etc.) Then, I noticed a few compacts (Kia Spectras, Chevy Aveos). Then, hidden behind a HHR I found a 2008 Yaris Sedan.

My company doesn't care what I pick, as we get the same rate for compact to full size cars, but it is mighty nice to have a familiar car and one that you can park anywhere. And, even though we just expense gas, I really like spending less than $20 to tool around a city for a whole week.

Two things come to mind. First, your company is fortunate to have a thrifty employee. There are an awful lot of folks who like to splurge and spend like a drunken sailor when it's on the company dime. Good for you helping the bottom line. Second, driving a car that is unfamiliar in unfamiliar surroundings can be quite dangerous. Your safety is dramatically increased by your choice.

HINT-HINT I work for AVIS-Budget Group and we have a large amount of YARIS Sedans in the fleet nationwide....somewhere in the 1500-2000 range I think just in the florida/southeast region If I'm not mistaken

I got a Chevy Tahoe at the Budget IAD. It feels like I'm driving a combine compared to my LB.

So does Alamo at the Tampa airport, I got one two months ago and it served as an extended test drive as I bought my own (a hatch though) after getting home...

Cheers! M2
