))) weapon R yaris intake info needed (((
hey guys
i was going to get the K&N intake for the yaris, but is so expensive , didnt think it would be worth it , so i went with the weapon R and thought i'd give it a bash. only question i have is does the filter suffer from heatsoak due to the fact that it doesnt have a heat shield , or does it do ok the way it is ? |

The filter on those things are crap. When I was running one of their intakes I used a Fujita dry filter.
As far as heat soak, I didn't encounter any problems. The intake air tems would go up at stop lights, but would then drop down to ambiant as soon as I got going again. |

yeah , i saw on the older Dragon intakes , the filters seem pretty "fragile" , but im gonna be gettting the secret weapon filter , which is said to be alot better. ok cool , good thing bout the air temps , cause i know even the standard OEM airbox setup gets quite warm. |

The carbon Simota box...mounted via a modded OEM intake tube to a 1zz TB.

ahh ok cool. i was thinking of doing a foglight cover / pipe mod to direct some cool air up to the filter , but not up all the way to it though

I have it, makes the engine growl real nice. a little more pickup too. I don't like how the filter fits against the headlight housing though, thinking about going to a stubby filter so it fits better.

I'll probably have to trim the intake tube a bit. As far as heat soak I don't really think that's much of an issue with these cars especially once you start moving. Besides the CAI's that have the filter down in the bumper just look like a total pain in the ass to deal with.

The guys from Weapon-R visited my shop a few months back and said they are working on an intake manifold for the Yaris. Anyone heard about this?

I saw the pic of a prototype, looked ok but one thing bothered me, the runners were all the same length and on Holdener's protype they were different lengths(better power improvement) price would probably be better ($500 or lower) versus $700 for the one holdener was working on. I think Garm is trying to get it produced right now but no final price yet.
