OBD II on Toyota Vitz 2009

Hi All,

I own a Toyota Vitz 2009 Japan import, 996cc 1KR-FE Engine, T410CVT and would like to know if it uses OBD II or a variant of OBD so that I can buy the OBDlink MX scanner to see ecu codes Etc.

The wired pins on the port are: Pin 4, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 16

Thanks to all

I don't know about the Vitz, but the Yaris uses pretty standard OBD II, and I've been able to use a regular OBD II Bluetooth dongle with no problems. I seriously doubt that the Japan version of the same car would be different at this level.

Yaris and vitz have different electronics, the port active pins are different thus probably a different protocol

My cousin has a yaris uk import and obd port have different active pin layout.

Vitz is not OBDII. It is M-OBD.

I stand corrected. I also find that pretty strange.

@CTScott

So, to use obdlink MX (and torque app) do I need a different init. String and different pid's?

I think this is the init string required : ATIB 96 \n ATIIA 13 \n ATSH8213F0 \n ATSP4 \n 0100

Can you give me a hint about pid's please? cos i cannot find any

Thank you!

M-ODB is a completely different protocol. I don't have any info on it.

Under no circumstances buy Tachyon. I had the Tachyon T1 and it never worked and there is ZERO support - they never reply to mails and you might just find someone on the forum. The Android application is a joke and NONE of the advertised functions work at all - like reading or clearing DTCs.
