Does your trunk shut as easy as other cars?

For some reason my trunk doesn't seem to shut as easily as my other cars, on my 09 yaris sedan. The carfax said the car had no reports, and it only has like 40K miles on it. So I feel like its safe to assume that it probably has never been hit in the rear, then fixed. But for some reason, the trunk seems harder to shut than my honda, or my mustang. Or even my mom's oldsmobile. It seems more resistant to being closed. Those other cars just seem to latch right away. Is this like a toyota thing or something? Different brands have different quirks throughout their line, throughout the years. For some odd reason.

My 09 Sedan is the same way. If I don't almost slam it, it just bounces back open.

My 08 hatch closes super easy. Maybe your latch is just out of alignment? Look at it, see if there's any marks on the paint from it wiggling around :)

Well the HB and the sedan are going to be different on this aspect.

When I first got my sedan, the weather strip around the edges was pulled off a little bit. After I pushed it all down again, the trunk seemed to close easier, so that might be something to check.

Seconded. Last fall, the trunk lid on my 07 sedan got difficult to close without REALLY slamming it. I checked the weather strip, found one corner had taken a shot; pushed it back into place, been fine ever since.

+1 on weather stripping. My 07 sedan is hard at times, and I have to make sure the weather stripping is in place, it gets knocked out very easily if I have large items in and out of the trunk.

It is inertia that closes such a light trunk lid, so it needs a bit of a slam. Other than that, make sure the weatherstrip is right, and that it is properly lubricated; I've seen guys slamming the hell out of a lid, immediately cured by some WD40 and white grease...

Only complaint I have with my trunk is sometimes you have to jiggle the key lock to get it to turn to unlock. has slowly gotten worse. not sure if there is a problem with the tumblers inside. my key works perfect everywhere else, and tried multiple keys.
