My 08 manual hatch 100% stock drivetrain
With 17's and on coilovers
Mostly freeway with some city
aggressive driving gets 32mpg
Did a whole tank of gas granny shifting and max 65 on the freeway got 34mpg
ONCE when it was stock i got 39mpg but that was a fluke. It was usually between 34-37mpg then.

I just achieved 615 km with 36.502 litres on my last fill. That works out to 47.5935 MPG Imperial or 39.6299 MPG US.

hi have the 2010 sedan with no real mods. got 44-45 mpg going to tahoe here in california. no real tricks. clean air filter use top gas like chevron or union 76. over in britian bp will do the trick. try to check if the pump has additives like ethyonal or non gas type fluids and avoid them. tire pressure may help. I use the 10 psi under max rule so you dont feal like your driving a cover wagon and hard stiff rides. if you have a auto, coast to stops over 50- 100 feet in front of you like a manual. take junk out of rear of the boot.can remove your spare if you have auto club for road brakedowns. plan all short roundabout trips at once start early if that helps avoid traffic.dont run all season tread tires if possable.keep speeds down to about 80 km or 55-60mph for us yanks.
all data from toyota and GM enginners say that speeds over 55 mph to just 65-70 mph can cause the engine to work at double the energy load 2x the gas rate just for that little gain in mph. its the wind force ( drag ) over the body that can triple with just that change in speed. google it mit gm and porsche have done tests with volvo and many others. hope that helped

Was that mostly city or highway? that's about my max for around town driving/ highway mix. Was wondering if my car was keeping up with yours haha.

I should have included that .... it was about 200 km highway / 415 km city.

I took a road trip today and got 43.9mpg over 328 miles. Mostly highway and hardly any stopping. This is with two passengers and the a/c running the whole time. I kept my speed down to about 60, follow trucks (not too close, but within Mythbusters limits for improved mileage) whenever possible. I'm looking forward to a trip to Vermont next week to see if I can beat this trip.

I have recently been getting really good mileage ... in the city. I have achieved an average of 5.2 L/100 KM according to my ScanGauge which works out to 45.23 MPG US or 54.32 MPG IMPERIAL.

I am about 1/2 way thru my tank .. so it should be interesting what my mileage is in the current tank. Should be able to tell in the next week or so. I also recently got new tires .. so it could be interesting to see what that has done to my mileage.

........and if you do what some call 'overfill' (fill all the way up to where the gas cap fits on) it is 12.777 US gallons. I know this from personal experience by running out of gas as I was pulling into a gas station to get gas.....and I regularly come within .20 to .25 of a gallon from that mark.

I just filled up .. and my mileage is pretty consistent with the last tank. I got 557 km and 33.482 L (6.01113 L/100 KM) so I still had some to go before my tank was empty. It was all city driving except about 80 km.

My gas gauge wasn't blinking yet .. but I thought I would stop for gas anyways. My goal is to get 5.5 L/100 KM City - 5.2 L/100 KM Highway so we shall see if I ever manage that.

Seems I can manage that for short periods in the city .. but not over the long term (like for a tank full).

So .. it works out to 46.9930 MPG Imperial or 39.1298 MPG US. So really that isn't too bad. I just got new tires .. so I think that they are a little "stickier" than my old worn out tires so I was expecting my gas mileage to go down. It actually went down about 0.5 MPG from my last fill so really pretty much the same. I will see how my next fill does .. as I got my new tires partway thru this last tank.

I got Hankook Optimo 4S "All Weather" tires. They are only available in Canada (and Europe I believe). There are videos on YouTube .. which show pretty good performance in winter. They are apparently better than all season tires during winter conditions.

I should note that they are designed to be left on the vehicle all year long .. similar to all season tires. They just are designed to be somewhat better in winter in particular than all season tires. They are similar to Nokian WR G2 tires I understand. We have long winters here ... so winter performance is much more important than it may be to some others.

Got my first tankful over 46 mpg in my usual combination of town and rural driving. I always get in the 40's, but usually lower 40's. Only difference has been a switch to Mobile 1 in the engine plus Redline for the tranny, if it keeps up for the next few tanks I'll claim the increase is the lube change.

No rear seat or spare, no hub caps, 45 psi in tires, other wise totally stock. '08 5sp. LB

^ ^ . How's the shifting with the Redline ? Wonder if the clutch engagemnet would be better with a synthetic brake fluid . May help the braking too , since they share same resorvoir . Here's AMSOIL synthetic Dot 3 for use of brakes / clutch , http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/bf3.aspx .

key OFF mpg, mystery solved.

I've got the best commute in the world for getting pretty fair mileage. Using every trick I could find here I was only getting 43 mpg driving about 40 mph (AC on always, it's Phoenix). I then ran my commute without ever turning off the ignition key. The route is actually 16.1 miles one-way. Using a key-off coast down when ever I see a red light in the distance I was only registering a 14.7 mile commute distance. Thant means that I've been stopping the odometer when I go motor-off-clutch-in/coast down mode. I've been coasting 1.4 miles per trip. When I apply this factoid to a true mileage it tells me I'm actually getting 47 miles per US gallon.

Yup. A lot of hyper milers that run engine off a ton have added a simple button that turns the engine off yet keeps everything else powered.
