Cruise Control kicking itself out

I was on the highway today doing 110km/hr with CC set. CC all of a sudden kicked out. Thought I hit the stalk with my knee so I quickly flipped the stalk up to re-engage the speed I locked it into. Nothing. Turned off/on CC and set again for 110. A little while later it kicked itself out again and again flipping the stalk upwards it did not want to re-engage.

Has anyone else ever have this happen to them?

Do you have an AT or an MT? It could be either the brake switch or clutch switch (if it is an MT) triggering too easily.

It's a MT. Could be but why would it wipe out the memory of the last cruise speed?

I had the same problem with a 2010. There was a loose connection in the (aftermarked but dealer purchased) stalk. Manufacturer defect. It was before I started doing my own work and I made the dealer fix it.

True. To completely clear the set point it would have to be acting like the on/off switch was pressed.

Do both the CC and SET lights stay on on the cluster when it is in that state?

The CC light stays on but I cant re-engage it.

Is there a point when a CC will disengage itself?

The only thing that can cause that is if the vehicle speed drops below the set point by more than 10 MPH. In that case it will disengage and you have to set the speed again.

Ahhhh...that's it then. It was climbing a hill. I guess it went too slow. But strangely this hasn't happened before.

Maybe CTScott can build a circuit to give the audible command:
"please downshift now"
kinda like when a GPS tells you to turn here.
