Help- Dash/Gauge/Radio Lights Inoperative

Hi, My girlfriend has a 2012 Yaris Hatchback with approx. 22,000 miles. Last night on our way to dinner, I noticed that the display on the radio was not working but the actual operation of the radio still functioned properly. I thought it was odd but didn't think much of it. That is until we get ready to head back after dinner. When she turned on her headlights the instrument cluster gauges did not come on. With the headlights off, the small display in the instrument cluster that displays what gear the car is in, time, etc... worked but when the headlights are turned on, that part went out and the rest of the lights (gauges, radio, and climate control) did not come on.

I checked the fuses but didnt find any that had blown.

Has anyone had this happen before and is so, what was the cause and resolution?

The car is under warranty so she is taking it in on Wednesday for service but Im concerned about her driving at night with no gauge lights so if there is something simple I missed I'd like to know what i can check.

Thanks in advance

Sounds like the dimmer rheostat (little knob by the driver's left knee) is turned all of the way down.

The dimmer rheostat was the problem. Thanks for the quick reply.

It's amazing how easy it is to bump that and not realize it. My parent's Taurus had a
similar issue. Glad you were able to solve the problem, and avoid a trip to the shop,
even if under warranty.
