Clutch Kit Replacement - Which brand to go with?

So I've got 152k miles on my 2007 sedan. The clutch shudder starting off in first gear is starting to become worrisome to me. I'm thinking I'll be needing a new clutch kit even though it doesn't slip at ALL. Really frustrating.

I've bled the clutch and it's practically all new DOT 3 Fluid, but it still violently hops when I blend the clutch and throttle for the first few shifts of every trip. After maybe 10 min of driving all shifting is perfect. My guess is that the fly wheel is hot spotted.

Anyways I'm looking at a LUK clutch kit for $130, an Exedy for $230, or a Beck Arnley for $310. NONE of these come with a new fly wheel.

Do you guys recommend buying a new flywheel or just having it resurfaced? If so, what flywheel should I go with? Any other input on the situation is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

exedy ;)

They make good clutches, many OE use them. LUK are OK as well, but Exedy typically is closer to OE feel. In terms of flywheel, usually I just scuff it up if there are no serious hotspots. However, since your clutch shudder is bad, you should resurface or replace the flywheel. Resurfacing is cheaper, but can often cause a poor pedal feel after. I've not resurfaced a Yaris yet so can't say whether they feel OK or not.

Is it possible you have oil on the flywheel?

Cheers.

I have a stock flywheel if you want to pay the shipping. It only had around 45k on it. You would need to have it resurfaced of course to mate to a new clutch assembly however I would think it would only require a single pass. Just shoot me a PM.

I am actually pretty sure that I have the stock clutch too so theoretically since they match you would just need to replace the release bearing and slap it in with the flywheel. You could very possibly get 30+k depending on how you drive it right?

Thanks but no thanks. If I'm gonna go thru the trouble of pulling it all apart I'm gonna put new parts in there. Appreciate the offer though.
