I'm impressed at what you are able to achieve with rattle cans.

Thanks WeeYari! Not too bad, eh. The SprayMax is a great product. It has a nice spray pattern. I did notice a slight bit of metallic flake streaking in the fender in the right light. This was actually my first "blending" attempt over a large panel area and I applied some vertically which caused the streaking. I have yet to do the other side and I expect it to turn out better as I'll go full sweeps horizontally and pull the can away for the blend. If the passenger side turns out better - a.k.a. no streaking - I'll redo the driver's side. I've also been pricing compressors and paint guns.

Thanks!

Here are a couple from different angles. Car needs a good cleaning, and polish. Lots of over spray and dust including on the headlights.

Wondering what one of these would look like on the rear bumper.

There might be too much vertical curvature and integrating it with the mud flaps might present a challenge.

May do some measurements tonight.

Ah ha, never thought of that. I used to use photoshop a lot editing textures for Microsoft Flight Simulator sceneries I developed. Don't have Photoshop anymore. Maybe I could try Gimp.

More Blending...

Did the passenger side blending and clear coating tonight. I also fixed a ding on the fender. The ding was right on the arch line so it took quite a bit of shaping to get back.

Paint laid smoothly as did the clear coat. Wet sanding and polishing should dramatically improve clarity. The metallic flake in the Duplicolor "Perfect Match" is larger than the factory flake and it's hard to get the flake evenly dispersed. Not bad though for a spray bomb. I am so itching to get my larger compressor and LVLP spray gun and other tools etc.

Haha! It's going to happen. Just a matter of when. My biggest obstacle is how to set my garage up to do it properly. I need cross ventilation and a lot of plastic sheeting on the ceiling etc. I have been pricing the needed tools and materials.

Trevor from Motion Auto TV has been dealing with the same issue. Basically the best i can figure is a wedding style tent. tape ip the bottom and cut out sections for HEPA filters and a few fans... then water down the ground and spray on

Yes, that sounds like a do-able solution. I was thinking maybe one of my garage doors could be open enough to place a box fan there. The rest of the opening could be filled with plywood or cardbord. The other door, I open enough to place a few furnace or HVAC filters and fill the remaining gaps.

Yes...I will, oh wise, Kimona! And here is the first step...

I picked up my used 'old school' home built compressor today. $200.00 CAD and works like a champ. I think I would have had to spend $700.00 - $800.00 to get a new one that is capable of spraying a full car. The seller was great and showed me his shop, gave me some pointers on painting - he's painted several cars.

Picked up my spray gun, regulator, fittings. Also a 50' hose. May take that back in favour of a 25' but will measure out 25' in my garage first.

Anyway, this compressor kicks butt. We ran my paint gun and the compressor was more than up to the task of sustained spraying.

I will be letting the car 'cure' from all the work I've done lately before starting this project. Thinking maybe mid August.

Where did purchase the duplicolor perfect match paint? Looking for 1F8 (meteorite metallic) and having issues finding it.

Very nice. Looks like a bullet proof "old school" set-up. Now, to configure your clean room environment. Expecting a complete re-spray in the near future. Exciting.

Hi jjbG35Yaris.

Canadian Tire in Canada sells the Duplicolor line. I don't think they make 1F8 as I looked for it. My 2008 Yaris has that paint. I had a local shop mix up a spray bomb.

Here is a link to a site that has the product you're looking for:
