12-24 v needed for rear camera for Yaris 2006.

Hi folks.

Owning Yaris 2006.

I'm installing a rear camera and
It works on 12-24v.
My camera is positioned above third tail stop light.
Any reference where I can get about 24v.

I tried 12v third tail stop light. Which is not helping.

Regards.

do you need 12v all the time or only when reversing?

if 12v all the time, then youll have to pull power from the front of the car
if 12v only on reverse, tap into the reverse light wiring

If you drive with your headlights turned on (which is likely the case as I doubt the 2007 was ever fitted with daylights) you can get 12V from the rear lights.

My experience: I bought a camera set that included front and rear camera and all the wiring. Some 100 Euros. Installation was mostly fun except for trying to push the usb cable through the rubber hose between the fifth door and the body. That was a nightmare and I destroyed that hose when I went berserk.

It all depends if you need the rear cam for security reasons or to help you navigate when backing up. Which is IMHO not needed for our motorized cupcakes.
