1nz-fe intake manifold , Xa ...

Been looking for more performance from the yaris as I have all the basic bolt-on parts . Been searching scion life and found that Weapon R make a very nice intake manifold that fits the 1nz-fe that found in the Xa . I know it will match the head ports and bolts but will probaly need modify the intake as it changes the angle and not sure of the differnce from the Xa tb bolt pattern and the yaris Tb bolt pattern . Discuss...

I think they only made a couple and scrapped it IIRC but other than the angle of the TB it should work.

I'm not 100% sure if the angle of the TB is even an issue actually.

with good metalworking knowledge/a good fabricator, one could quite easily chop off their TB flange and weld on one suited for ours...

I'm not sure these would give as much gains as the legendary magical elusive Holderner IM, but at least it's actually available, which is always a plus...

i'm wondering why weapon-r chose to go with two sections of pipe welded together rather than bending a single pipe. i'm sure the radius isn't too small to bend, since it's often done.

Those welds are outta control. They may be technically good, but they just look awful. I'm comparing these welds to those of Fujitsubo and TRD items, though. Geez.

I think the weapon R ones were done by hand while others were machines?

But it was welded in two pieces because think of it. You make the box itself, then you weld the first section of pipes on, go to the intake flange weld the second, then join them together. It's alot easier to mockup like that for the person who is doing them vs. needing a jig/clamps etc to have one whole piece.

Even a couple of holdeners welds were in seperate sections?

holdener had them in separate sections to make the prototype easier to work on, yeah. Like you mentioned, they probably did each half separately then joined them. I'm no welder but I can imagine it's not easy to get into the tight space on the inside of the bend...

+1. TIG isn't easy. It takes a while to make beautiful welds.

TIG is simple for me yet it took about 3 years of practice to get it right. They originally made an intake with straight runners to a box and it didn't yield any gain this is there new attempt.

yeah the one that goes straight to the box would never yield gains in something like this, you need to calculate the runner length which is probably what they didnt do the first time around, it takes alot of physics to get these things right! lol
