Thin Metal Sound While Braking But Not Always - Any Idea Why

I have a Toyota Yaris 2013 Model. I used to hear a thin metal sound (same sound like when we collide two coins) most of the time when I brake. Any idea what is the possible reason ?

Thank you.

How thick is the remaining friction material on your brake pads?
You might have to remove the wheels to check but I can see mine throught the alloy wheel spokes.
Although you say "I used to hear", can you still?

Miles on the car/brakes? I suspect it is just the pads re-seating themselves when the brakes are applied.

I could not see the brake pads clearly. Sound seems to be coming from front wheel. Yes, I hear the sound once a while when I apply brake. Planning to visit a servicing center to check it. Thanks for your reply.

Even when I drive in lower speed, sounds used to come once a while. Front wheel brake pads were replaced last year. Been driven around 5000 Km after that. May be. Thanks for your feedback.

Was everything lubricated properly when the pads were changed? Could be something sticking occasionally. Has it only done this since the pads were changed?
Make of pads and their friction material might have some bearing too.
