Looks like the tire may be punctured after all. i'll be going tomorrow to get pricing on getting it fixed.

Could be that that screw was throwing off the balance and causing the thumping you heard/felt. Once removed all is good once again.

Well, some places offer warranties with tires to cover holes in the tread. If not, it should be less than $20 to fix it.
