Sometimes it won't start...
Hey guys!
New to the forum, but hopefully I can get an idea of what's going on with my beloved Yaris! The thing is that it sometimes won't start. If I leave it alone, for example during the weekend, it won't start on Monday morning when I'm leaving for work. Everything sort of lights up, but the starter won't run. So, I therefore suspect I might have to replace the starter? The other thing is, if I leave it alone for a couple of days/weeks it starts up again. It's like it needs resting, which is weird seeing I'm a very timid driver hehe. But that kind of makes me suspicious to the whole starter thing... I really have no clue, so hoping to get some help from you guys :)))) Do you guys have any thoughts? |

No, I just leave it alone for a couple of days/weeks, and then it just starts again (using the "normal" start button). It's so strange, it's like it acts up for a while and then magically starts working again.

Battery terminals connectors
Battery terminals and connectors can grow lots of greenish/blue/white powder. They can also develop a sort of hard dark non-conductive crust.
Corolla also had a weak connector made out of a stamping w/ a rubber insert. It stretched and wouldn't tighten even if the bolt was tight. |

A really quick and dirty way to test if its your starter that's faulty and saves you having to do further tests on the wiring is to give the starter a few taps next time it won't turn over. My cousins Yaris had an intermittent no crank. I told her to tap on it with a piece of wood a few times and it started first time.
