Changing the fuel filter
Hi all,
I'm trying to find a good quality generic fuel filter for a 2009 Toyota Yaris base 1.5. But after searching I could not to get it, Can anyone tell me where I can get a exact fuel filter like mine or if I can't do it? Do I have any cheap options? I tried the autoparts stores and they tell me they only sell the fuel filter as the whole fuel pump for $300.00. I can't shell out $300.00 every 100,000 miles just to change out the fuel filter. Can anyone please offer advice if there is that one fuel filter sold seperately like mine. What brand? Thank you for any help offered. |

Is there any particular reason why you want to change it? Showing symptoms of being clogged, or you just feel like it should be a maintenance item? Unless some serious crap got into your tank, these filters are pretty much in there for life. Very few have needed to undertake the horrendous task of replacing one on thee cars.

Agree there is no requirement to change the filter. Nor does Toyota sell the filter without the pump .
It's supposed to be changed only if its clogged.

The filter is essentially part of the pump unit. It isn't a service item.

I replaced mine at about 80,000kms. In my service book it is listed as a replacement item every 80,000kms.
I just used an ebay one and it I am now up to 150,000kms. |

I picked up a load of crappy petrol a while ago.
The beast ran like a sloppy lawnmower. The pulled the tank and flushed the fuel lines. I asked about the filter and if I needed to change it. They said that they replaced it (its a big job) but they also said Id not have to change it again unless it clogged. Apparently, while the vehicle is running, leave it alone. This from a Toyota service centre |
