Scratch protection or Shipping material?

Hey everybody!

As you may have seen, I got a 2012 Yaris L yesterday and had a question regarding a plastic film just in front of the rear tires and on the doors. Is it there on purpose as a scratch protectant for daily driving, or is it leftover material from shipping ?

The dealership was in a hurry to deliver (I bought the car on my lunch break), so I have a feeling it was just an overlooked protectant used for shipping.

Basic Question: Can and should I pull it off?

I can't say if it is supposed to be there or not but mine still is and it is an '08. I bought mine used.

I would leave it.

You should see how thick they are on the leading of a Porsches rear fenders, I don't own one but man, they try and do a good job of protecting certain areas for you.

Those are a futuristic addition to your vehicle. They are called transparent magnetic repulsion panels. They are used to electromagnetically guide your vehicle away from magnetic repulsion barriers placed on the sides of the road to help you avoid accidents. No one has been told about this technology because it is still highly secret and Toyota has not unveiled it to the public yet.
