as for running low boost with a black i/c...um last i checked, boost is boost...and it really doesnt matter if your running 5 or 20, but ldoing something that lowers the efficiency of the system is going to effect its total outcome regardless.

in other words if you black out a intercooler for a low boost application. it would be just as bad using it on a high boost application. if not multiplied many times over, due to the increased need for efficiency.
using an intercooler in low boost applications is pretty much LOL anyway.

well where there is a base kit, you always go up from there...personally if I'm going to shell out 3k or more for a kit, I would at least invest another 3 along with it to build the motor to handle more than just 6psi.

Lots of OEM intercoolers are black...! Some say a coat of paint might interfer with the heat exchange process. One thing is for sure, IF there is a difference is not significative.

Black Intercoolers = Sleeper look

Bare Aluminum = Hey look I'm turbocharged!

Godspeed has a line of black intercoolers... nice!

This will be a full blown hardcore car. So there is no much point on hiding the cooler.

Also, the car is representing a name "MicroImage" it has to be flashy!!

Looking great!!!

Really and how many boosted cars have you worked on? It's not miss information you know how many VW I've strapped to a dyno who don't have intercoolers a lot. Maybe it's a little different up here since we're almost at sea level and have cooler air but it might be a different case in Florida.

Ehhhh, I dunno, the charge will still get hotter than normal IAT so when you used one when boosting, it just might have been enough to bring it back down to prevent det from grenading it.

Yeah, you do not want to coat the intercooler in regular paint as it will screw with the air flow not cooling the charge, they do however sell special paint for this application which if i remember is kind of pricey for what it is...

I laughed at my dumbass friend when he used krylon to paint his radiator on his computers water cooling setup and then wondered why his processor started running 5 degrees hotter

I would imagine it would make an even bigger difference with an intercooler too due to the density difference between water and air maybe powdercoating it black would be better?

powdercoating is even thicker than paint..

bad idea.
