the only time I'd change the oil so soon is if it's actually a built by hand engine and you just want to make sure the oil isn't contaminated with anything from assembly and break-in.

I have a bit under 6000 miles on my Yari thus far, and one "ToyotaCare" free oil change / tire rotation under my belt. I might be moving west of Phoenix a bit this summer, so my current 35 mile round-trip work commute might soon become a 90-100 mile round-trip commute instead. Thank goodness for the ~40MPG or so that I am getting I guess. At that rate, my Yari will be "worn out" by the time that I get it paid off, lol.

Stop bragging about your low mileage...
I changed mine out at 1,500 miles...1,566 to be exact. I've been giving Scruffy oil & filter changes every 6 months regardless of how many miles I put on it (which has been averaging about 2,200 miles during that period) Documented for warranty purposes. I am going to keep this oil change interval, 5W-30 and filters for this car are cheap, plus it's fun to do. |
