Maintenance Required Light

Is it possible to turn it off?

I am not asking in order to keep it off, I am asking because I am wanting to be sure that I didn't do that on accident. I know that the bulb works as it comes on during the bulb check.

I was a fool and forgot to take note of the mileage when I did my last oil change. I usually use the light as a reference.

Yes the procedure is in your owners manual. I would tell you how to do it but it’s different for different cars and I’m not driving a Yaris now.

iirc, turn on the ignition (not the engine), put the trip meter to "A," and then turn off the ignition. Then hold down the trip button and while doing so, turn the key back onto the "ignition on" position (not the engine) and you'll see the odometer start blinking and counting down with lines. Once the lines stop blinking and it goes back to the trip meter, you can release the trip button.

So far so good. I’ve only driven 1000 miles since I bought it in September. I only plan to drive it about 2000 miles a year. It doesn’t have the fold Down rear seats Lake my 2001 head so you can access the interior of the car from the trunk. And I do miss the versatility of my Yaris hatchback. But the car appears to be in excellent shape cosmetically and mechanically. I’m very pleased with it!

My son brought the Yaris I gave him over yesterday for a visit. My gosh it shines like a star! He’s polished up the headlights to remove the glaze and Buffed the car out. It looks like new And it’s 10 years old in May.

That's what I get for trying to shotgun a post.

To clarify,
I reset the light ahead of an oil change that I about to do. Something urgent came up, so I delayed the oil change a couple days. After I did the oil change, I did the reset procedure again. However, I didn't take a note of my mileage, either time, because I wasn't thinking.

I was wondering that because I did the reset procedure so close together, that I didn't accidentally disable the Maintenance Required light. Google searching hasn't been successful. I know the bulb works, it does come on during the bulb check.

I don't think there is a way to disable the maintenance light. Also, are you saying that the light came on twice in that short amount of time? If so, that is very weird since it is programmed to come on at certain mileages.

No, I am not saying it came on again. I just reset it after doing the oil change even though I had reset the light prior.

So it turns out that resetting the light twice pushed the light coming on out to ~6k miles. Makes sense in hindsight.
