My wife and I have our cars covered by Progressive. I have a 2012 Yaris L MT and she has a 2009 Honda Fit. The full coverage for my Yaris is about $45/month, as I recall. I have a clean driving record, FWIW. I used to have AmFam and Geico, but, even at the same coverage levels, Progressive blew them away on pricing.

Did you have to do that monitoring thingy to get your rate? Plugs into the OBD II port I think?

No. I looked into that 2-3 years ago and decided it wasn't for me. Perhaps I'll revisit it?

That's great that Progressive is the lowest for your family WITHOUT 'submitting' to that device. I would never submit to that device, but that's just me.

I have Progressive, full coverage, $250 deductible. Accident-free, but I did have a hail damage claim last year of $1400.00. I just paid my insurance, I pay $332 every 6 months.

Just to upset my Yaris friends in the good 'ol US of A.....
I have just renewed the insurance on my '07 sedan. I always get several quotes when I renew yearly on my cars as the insurance industry in Australia is very competitive. I have changed companies for the Yaris and this year my total yearly premium is $268.12with an excess (I think you guys call it a deductable) of $500 i.e. I pay the first $500 of the claim. This was based on my driving history (good - no claims or tickets in the last 5 years), age (supposedly mature), the car is kept in a locked garage and I do not commute to work (retired).
Maybe you guys should move over here although you buy cars there a lot cheaper than we do.
regards Muz

you should all move to Michigan. not only can you enjoy our poor economy, but you can partake in our unlimited lifetime medical benefit, no fault insurance monstrosity.

oh, and you can all at least double or triple what you pay now.

I am 48, perfect driving record, and pay $989 per year. every insurance company except AAA will be closer to $1600+.

if I lived 6 miles south.....which puts me in Indiana....I would pay $487 for the exact same coverage.

SMH....nanny statism run amok IMO. A bit before the ACA passed, I was comparing health insurance plans in Texas and in California and also why particular plans are offered. Even before the ACA passed, California had what I call 'everything but the kitchen sink requirements' . At least Michigan seems to be waking up re some 'nanny state issues'.....(RTW.....Indiana 'went first', and now private sector job growth is up, etc).
