Wecked at home...

It would seem that Home Sweet Home doesn't equate to Home Safe Home. Our neighbor across the street backed into my Yaris a few minutes ago with her '01 Chevy CrewCab long bed pick up.

It hurts to see my car wrecked but I can honestly say that I'm glad it happened like this rather than being hit on the highway or on the way to work or something. This could've been a full speed broadside that could've landed me in the hospital or worse.

The damage appears to be limited to just the door and the glass. Obviously the internal parts of the door will be broken as well and I know the glass is shattered all the way down.

Insurance has already set up a rental for me but I won't get that until Monday when I have the car towed down to the repair shop.

I thank the Lord for keeping me safe!

Truck - 1
Yaris - Broken

It also happened to a great guy too! If it was me I would have made sure the truck got a beating too!

I brought it home from the dealer at the beginning of March so she's not quite 3 months old yet. The lady that was driving the truck is a very good person. Her and her family are wonderful people and it was an accident. Besides, the top of my car isn't even as high as the side of the truck bed.

I just looked at the Enterprise.com website and it shows that they have "Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris or similar" so maybe I can get a Yaris as a replacement. That would be cool if I can. Even if I have to go to a different Enterprise location to get it.

Hm... we'll have to see come Monday. Too bad I'll have to take off part of the morning to get this all worked out.

I'm curious... If you credit "the Lord" with keeping you safe then who do you credit with allowing/causing your car to get hit?

The Lord does allow things to happen.
We all have free will, right?
He WILL allow a train to run you over if you decide to see what happens if you stand there.

Just my .02, and yeah, I'm a believer and not ashamed to state so.
...but I don't have a little fish emblem on the back of my car, LOL!

That sucks!

But I'm guessing your Yaris was parked in the street. I avoid parking any of my vehicles in the street for that obvious reason. Minimize your risk when you can.

I don't know if I can adequately respond to that because I've never been very good at discussing or debating topics like this. I admit that I'm not as studied in matters of faith and belief that I probably should be.

There's a lot of ways that this could've been much worse, a lot of 'what if' situations. I believe that the Lord cares more about the health and welfare of me and my son than he does about whatever car I happen to be driving. I don't believe that the Lord sits on his throne, examines a 'to do' list and decides that my car needs to get plowed by a 3 ton truck nor do I think that he plays some heavenly game of darts and my car came up randomly. :)

This happened at 4pm and I was due drive my son to see his sister's ballet recital an hour north of town. There's a lot of open country and I could've wrecked the car somewhere out in the boonies. We could've been on the highway and been hit or we could've made the trip up and back without a problem. There's just too many variables.

I hope I got my thoughts across clearly. :)

My car had been in the driveway behind my mom's van but she had to go to the store and...

That's pretty scary that the truck did all that damage going a slow speed (ie. backing out), makes me wonder what our cars would look like after a full speed collision with the same type of truck. ouch.

Here's my little red 07 that got hit by a Toyota Sienna (minivan) at 35-40 mph or so. Not too shabby, although most of it was taken low down near the "frame", not in the middle of the door. Walked away (stiff side for 2 days.)

10 years ago my wife backed her Rav-4 into her daughters Tacoma. Nobody usually parks in the driveway. There was nothing I could say (what if kids had been playing in the driveway) that would make her feel worse. I am sure that you neighbor feel bad. People with big trucks that can't see over the tail gates will pay the price for damage. While collecting rocks in the mountains for a garden I backed into a 3 foot tree stump that I couldn't see in the rear view mirror. It cost me $300.

I have used Enterprise in the past and usually they come to you with the rental, where you are leaving your car for repair. Makes it easier for you.
