seat belt chime disable?

To silence the seat belt buzzer I have tried the sequence mentioned here
on my 2008 Yaris sedan with no success.
Turn key on, change display to Odometer, turn key off.
Turn key on, press and hold button within 6 seconds.
Hold for at least 12 seconds, etc. etc.

I am going to cut the 4 wires under seat and then patch them back
one at a time until I find the one that triggers the seat belt buzzer.
Anyone's guess as to how the switch is wired or whether weight on the seat is part of the trigger or just the car moving more than 11 mph.
The seat belt wires- there should be just 2 of them, either break or make the connection to trigger the buzzer after the car reaches 11 mph.

Nothing else works and I would rather not have the red seat belt light blinking at me.

The best way to silence it on your 08 is using a Toyota TechStream tool. I have done it on mine and a on few other people's at meets.

Cutting the seat wires will cause much bigger issues and will cause even more lights to come on. The only way to silence it manually would be to open the instrument cluster and remove the piezo speaker, which is mounted to the back of the board.

Is your concern the driver seat (you like driving without a seat belt) or the passenger seat (you put stuff on the seat heavy enough to trigger the occupant classification system)?
