when did they move those mountains to OAHU ?

You can do really wacky things like hiking to the "summit" of Mauna Loa (the big caldera), which is a day-trip if you take the short trail from the weather observatory at 11,500 feet on the NORTH slope of the mountain, at the top of the paved road. (Mauna Loa Access Road off of Saddle Road) The view from the weather observatory is really nice. Hang out in the lava fields near the weather observatory for a bit before heading up - there is fun lava to look . The trails from the volcano park side on the south slope are both in the "death march" category.

So we just booked our tickets to Honolulu as our destination.

Oct 14th around 9pm we arrive at the airport.
We leave on the 19th at 6am
.

An unfortunate choice so far, but there's plenty of time to book an interisland flight to a more interesting island and fix those little errors. :)

If you re-read my posts you'll see that the post I originally replied to was specifically about the island of Hawai'i. The second post I replied to specifically mentions "the volcano" and there ain't nothing remotely volcanic happening on O'ahu. So...start checking into those interisland flights!

Update:

Most of the activities have been planned if not booked using the Go Oahu Card.

On Sunday, our plan is to ride motorcycles.
Does anyone know a legit place where they rent out sport motorcycles ie: Suzuki GSX, CBR, etc?

I have only encountered places thast rent out cruisers and motoercycles likle the Ducati Monster and Bonnieville.....

Thank You

By any chance will any of you guys be free? Maybe i can meet some of the local Yaris people

Hey Kioshi. Regarding motorcycle rentals - most rentals here on Oahu are either mopeds or Harleys. Not too many sportbikes. There is only one that I know chasehawaiirentals.com. You can see their bikes on the website. Problem is that it requires a huge deposit (refunded after you return the bike) probably because of liability. I can't think of any other sports bike rental place.

Oahu was nice, pretty busy in fact. Did not get much relaxing done, but enjoyable nonetheless.

We rode motorcycles on half of the island in one night, thanks to the confusing highways that don't tell you which highway to take to get to another highway

We tried our best to go to the Polynesian Center, but the lines didnt' justify our time.

Food was expensive, we went to Da Kitchen (good portions!) and few others.
Did a a not so famous hike that only natives know about~

Lots of Japanese people, have not had real okonomiyaki since coming back from Japan, and Oahu did it just right for me.

P.S. Lots of bug bites from one of the muddy hikes and wrist with a big cut across from slipping on rocks.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for your feedback/suggestions for the trip :)

What you really meant edit: "Lots of Japanese chicks..."
It's like a second Japan in Waikiki.

Where did you eat okonomiyaki? Chibo?
Glad you enjoyed your stay here.
Would have loved to have hung out but was lowering my car that weekend and had (still having) problems.

You read my mind correctly
Yeah pretty much. It's a pity, I spent most of the time in the car, or else I would have talked w/ them~

Yes it was at Chibo. We had an actual Japanese chef making ours. Too bad we could not buy him drinks .
That was recommended to us by a local friend of my friends.

No worries. I plan to visit there once more at least. Loved the stable weather there.

Do tell me one thing - Why are there so many damn Dodge Chargers there??

Dodge Chargers = rental cars

The next time you visit, don't be "nanpa-ing" every girl that walks by!
