Unhappy Left rear brake squeak

I need help figuring out why my left rear brake squeaks when I let my foot off the break pedal. I've got the wheel off and the brake cover. The pads look fine. Suggestions anyone?

Put lithium grease between the side of the shoe and the rear. It squeals when they move metal against metal.

Yea that will do the trick, it happens to me once and a while. Just needs lubrication. Its where the pads touch the back plate...not sure the correct terms. Each pad makes contact with the back plate at 3 or 4 points lubricate them all to rid the squeeling noise.

This has been driving me nuts for two years. The dealership always says I need to clean the brakes (but they told me this a month after I had them cleaned -- when the squeal began again). I can't be getting them cleaned every month, so maybe I'll try the greasing trick.

I looked at/intended to replace my pads at ~86,000. They still had over 50% life left (replaced front anyway for the lulz). Holding the new next to the old showed no difference on shoes, and only slight wear on pads. Half the life of my Yaris is in hilly areas, and I thought I was running the brakes hard.

You will need to adjust the rear shoe "star wheel" to stiffen the brake and parking brake over time.
