Aux jack IPod problem

I have not used my ipod in my car for a while. The other day I plug it in and now the sound only comes out the right speakers.

Anyone have any ideas why this is and what I should do? Do you think the cord could have gone bad since I have not used it for a couple of months?

Unless you've been using it as a jump rope it's likely not the cable. Does it make any difference if you wiggle the cable at the aux jack on the car? The contacts in the jack might be dirty.

Wiggling and plugging in and unplugging multiple times was the first thing I tried. It did not help at all. I used to have to do that with my old cable a lot and then I got this other one and it has been good until now.

I had the same thing happen to me (only i use my ipod constantly). One day it just started only playing through the driver's side speakers. It was the cord in my case though.

Check that your radio's not set for just "left" or just "right" on the speakers balance controls.
Check to see if by chance there's any left/right on the iPod too.
You can try cleaning both ends of your patch cable with alcohol and a towel to remove oxidation that may have built up over time.
Anyone you know have an extra cable you can use to test it in your car?

I had the same problem - bought a new cable for $20.00 and it worked like a charm - after two years my cable got so twisted and damaged. Good luck!
