Damn, that is nice. If I ever need to remove mine on my Yaris, i'll definitely paint it the same color as my valve cover or even vinyl it like you do.

Make it less porous and it stays much more clean

Not vinyl. High temperature high build primer then high temperature white base paint then white carbon hydrographics applied and lastly four coats of high temperature clear.
