Short throw shifters?

well, so far i love my yaris, but i HATE the truck shifter. for most people i am sure a truck shifter is fine for regular driving, but I cant stand it. so, any companies making a short throw shifter yet? i have seen TWM is making one...anyone have any experience with it? hard to install? is it a good fit?

any info would be wonderfull :)

I installed my TWM Short throw shifter last weekend... I love it, Installation was a pain in the ass because of one Bolt... make sure your car is warm when you do it... The cold plastic made it tough... But my God does it fucking rock! It was worth every penny! But keep in mind you will need a new Boot!

AFAIK only TWM has one, but the member ChinoCharles here also made his own by butchering the original gear stick... not for the faint-hearted.

BTW I ordered a TWM one a couple fo days ago and it should be delivered today Too bad it's gonna be a busy busy day, gonna have to wait a bit to put it in

iirc. there is a TRD sports shifter, that is a more compleate short shifter than the TWM one...came with bushings, and the entire mount...was some infoon it in the same thread refered to above(with the hacked up stock shifter)

i didnt look into it more because i drive a manual but if was was in the market, that would have been the kit i would have looked into getting...might have just been a trd japan part, or may have not even been trd atall..but it is out there :)

hmmm wasn't that TRD part for the first generation echo/vitz/yaris? I'm not sure if anyone confirmed it would work with the NCP91's?

We confirmed it wouldn't. That is the one that includes the cage, right?

whee hee just received mine today... Instructions look a bit daunting though, gonna have to raid my friend's tool shelf, I doubt my trusty swiss army knife will handle the job...

as for the stick itself, it looks more like a knobbly mini nightstick for a midget cop

Don't know about you guys, I've got the TRD short shift. I compared the height of them both and they were spot on the same height plus it was easy to fit when I did it.

No pics... don't plan to take my SS out anytime soon but I have posted a pic of the SS itself in the car (search).

If I was buying a SS, I really wouldn't muck about taking standard parts apart with knives etc. It just looks so unprofessional to make a product for customers to do a dodgy job to "install". Anyway, the TRD ones aren't that expensive.

Yeah

Yeah but if the trd is the same height that would be as cool. I honestly love the stock shifter in my dsm it is so low My hand will hit the consol when shifting into lower gears.
