2012 Bumper Swap

I prefer the Se model Bumper and would like to put it on my L they seem to be the same fitting apart from the grills and fog light inserts,my concern is mainly the fender liners as the older model RS fender liners were different from the regular liners.
Has anyone done this mod or have any insight?thanks

I thought about this myself, however to purchase everything new
wouldn't be cost effective.I'll just wait for used or aftermarket...

eBay has tons of 2012 RS aka SE in North America bumpers for sale (front and rear), used from Japan...
A LOT-
Dont get aftermarket...they will be a pain in the ass to fit...replica always are bad.

Or you can see if you can find any intact from a junkyard when they start getting wrecked for a cheaper price as well. A nice rear ender and you can take everything you want from the front.

only problem i see about buying a used JDM front or rear, is that and im almost 100% sure, their colors aren't exactly the same as ours. well at least not all of there colors. so its going to run you a good amount for the front bumper from ebay and then your gonna have to pay to get it repainted.

i know they'll also be bending it when they place in a box to ship it as well...

True, extra for paint. Paint right now will cost you $129 at Maaco for a bumper.
They don't bend the bumper, one tab snapped off the bottom, but that was expected. They pack it really good and ship lighting fast, its Japan we're talking about haha. I vouch for her.

PM me if you want a pic ;)

I don't think 2012 models would come out that soon yet. Good luck.

There might be a little tucked in/flatter more than USDM bumpers. But you can tuck the fender liner, line up the hole at the bottom and put the plastic pin/ziptie through it. The bottom hole is the only concern you will have...thaqs my only concern when I got the bumper.
And guess what, you wont ever know till you do it...just ziptie the bottom hole and you're fine..it doesn't even show or poke out.

The fender liners are substantially different between RS and L/LE. Mainly the shape of the front and the attachment points.

You will need the following:

Bumper Cover
Fog Lamps L+R
Fender Liners L+R
Upper Grille
Lower Grille
Fog Lamp Garnish L+R
Tow hook cover

All the hardware is the same, as well as the Toyota crest and reinforcements.

Sadly, this will not be cheap or easy.. :(

But if you buy a front clip...you get the whole shebang: bumper, lights, hood, engine, trans, etc.

Could you explain with pictures HOW different it is between the RS and LE, possibly?

Because i have 2009 on my 2007. And the USDM bumpers were more bubbly than the JDM ones. JDM were flatter. For the 2012, the bumpers seem to have the same curvature for the USDM and JDM. Should be a direct swap...and like i said, might have to use a ziptie to bend and tuck the fender liner to line up with the hole/s.

Bumper swap is easier than changing the oil on the car or replacing headlight bulbs...mounting the US plates is also easier for 2012 owners than 2006-2011 owners, since JDM rear bumpers have a gap in the license plate mount area.

Expensive...maybe, depending on who or where you get it from.
