If you buy a standard double din stereo, then I think you need to buy 2 din dash kit.

I'm looking for an Xtrons too, but i think to buy the Xtrons TD717G because it has a detachable front panel and built-in microphone.

Bye,

Can anyone explain the difference between the models I see the TD717 and the TD713g. Only difference I can see so far is the 717 allows you to remove the front and does not offer multi zone. What model is the higher end one lol. Also really curious how you got this hooked up. I have a 07 chevy avalanche and am wondering what harness to pick up and if the typical aftermarket onstar harness will work.

do a quick crutchfield or audio store search on your car

and theyll tell you which Dash Kits to get.

since im not familiar with the Avalanche's insides - im not sure if they come Double Din or not.

The wiring/hooking up of this unit really shouldnt be a major worry for you - as long as you can get your car's current head unit out with out too much hassle.

and to anwser your question about which is more high-end?
Xtrons kinda treats the 717G to be more high-end....its also higher priced.
but besides the Removable Face Plate and the Built-In Mic there is no difference between the two models.

Looks like I am in for one as well. Picking up TD717g. For $300 I am willing to give it a try. I am just worried about the sound quality. I have 2 10s under my back seats and alpine type r components up front. The components are on an amp. Do you think a sound processor is needed?

Also can you just ground the parking break wire on this one to have video while driving? Or is there some kind a relay you need to make?

** After further reading the face on the 717 sticks out from the dash. It will not flush mount. Also there are lots of people who break the mounting clip for the face. Sounds like getting a version with out the removable face is the best way to go.**

I would love to see pictures installed, as I ended up buying the other unit (factory looking), and can't get it to work with my ipod.

well then your best bet would probably be to get the 713G (the version i bought) if the removable face can be a pain.

the unit doesnt flush mount for me. the adjustable screen needs (kind of) alot of clearance to slide up and down.

yeah you can just groudn the parking break (even tells you to in the manual)

sound processing wise - coming from my Pioneer 5800deh this was one of the only complaints i really had about the Xtrons.
this units sound quality is DRASTICALLY different from my pioneer.
not saying that the soudn quality is bad - its just the pioneer made it seem like Night and Day.
plus Audio wise - theres not too many features and adjustments you can do
so if you have a sound processor available - i would greatly recommend it.
if not - a little EQing and adjusting your speakers can still make this unit sound beautiful.

question though - what amp is running your subs? >_>
you said only the components are on the amp

mrp 1000 :). Forgot to mention it. I actually make my wife smack some drums in the back of the car. Its much cheaper than a gym membership. Only problem is that drum sticks can also be used to beat you as well.
