Bump Stops

I was browsing Amazon for some Polyurethane bushes and I came across something called a bump stop. From what I read, its supposed to improve your ride while protecting your vehicle’s suspension by reducing the impact when your car bottoms out.

Does anyone here use Bump Stops? If so, how do you install it?

Here is the link to the product:

Every car on the road has bump stops, what they are is basically bumpers for the suspension when it bottoms out. Some aftermarket coil overs and struts ask to have them cut, some people choose instead to install lower profile bump stops.

Totally useless unless you have aftermarket coilovers or shocks.

+1. bump stops only come into play when your suspension bottoms out. That will only happen if it's fully loaded with cargo and/or people or the vehicle is significantly lowered (more than 1.5" more or less)

Micro Image forums, online store and shop are now closed. It was a great eight year run, but it was time to focus on other things. I'm still selling parts on eBay under micro*image seller ID and customers can still make requests for anything specific.

I use Fat Cat Motorsports bump stops in my TRD set-up. If it ever bottomed, I never noticed.

Thread necro time!

I just picked up a full set of these and wanted to add to the collective knowledge. In my case, I also got a set of Tokico Reds (HTS adjustable) and was a bit confused by them. The rears appear to come with their own integrated bump stop in the dust boot, and the flange at the top is too large to fit the Fat Cat bump stop over. The fronts appear to be OK, but I will have a better idea once I install them.

Unfortunately there really wasn't ever proper documentation or install instructions for them. The archived pages only have sales info/pricing, but not any of the information they offer with their Miata products (i.e. which spacers to use with what shocks/springs/etc.) so I'm a little bummed out.
