Lug Nuts

What do you guys think of lugnuts... as a cosmetic mod?

Wheels can be enhanced with lug nuts (Really love the volks) but are darn expensive....

Not only do extended lugs look good imo but they really save your rims from getting Ef'd up/chipped up when removing lugs with a tire iron , ask me how I know Ftl

I have noticed some lugs are made of aluminum and some are made from steel. Is there really any difference in the safety???

The other thing with aluminum is the potential for a minute amount of weight savings.

Yeah, I think I've spent about $7000 on parts. I'm not auto x-ing, but I thought about it. The
main reasons I got the volk lug nuts was because they're internal drive and they have a floating
head to prevent the wheels from getting scratched when you torque them down.

Aluminum lugs end to be softer than steel, forged or not. They tend to be lighter than steel lugs, but there isn't a heck of a lot of difference. You're shaving off so little weight and it's so close to the center of rotation that you'd never be able to feel the difference.

I'm a big fan of McGard's spline-drive lugs. They aren't lightweight (about on par with OEM lugs, maybe a couple grams less) but they're solid. When it comes down to it I'd rather have faith in my lugs not failing than a few grams of weight savings.
