Sound deadening - Toyota Yaris Forums

I would like to add some sound deadening material to my yaris HB but i don't want to spend a lot of money or add a bunch of weight. From the research i've done, it's going to cost at least a few hundred to do a high grade job. I was thinking of using some insulation (it's basically bubble wrap with a silver lineing on either side.) as a base and then that purple insulation material that is found in small amounts already in the car, on top of that. Both materials are light and i can get lots of it for cheap.
So, i would like some feed back on whether my results will be minimal and not worth it or if you guys think my plan will yeild some half decent results.

My after market speakers are rattling my interior and i also want to reduce road noise.

hi i dont think you will be able to sound deaden the car without adding weight since the metrial is very dence and heavy i have done my lb with two layers of raamatt its well worths the money and weight . raamatt is not to costley compared to dynamat . not sure what product you may be wanting to use ? dont think the results will be worthwhile i would sound deaden any car i buy if given the chance . here is a picrure of mine done

I wouldn't do it your way; too much of chance for moisture to get trapped.
do it right or don't do it.

Deadening is not cheap, but if you are going to spend $$$ do it with some knowledge, I'm doing my Yaris and it's a big learning process, it's fun and it's worth it. Here is some literature that helps a lot...

Looks like a 50 sq feet roll was enough to cover my trunk lid, doors and rear side panels in my hatchback. That alone helps alot.

I'm done now, and used 100 sq ft. Only place left naked was the inside of the front doors, the ceiling, and the top side of the firewall (didn't remove the dash). I spent $200. Worth it? Absolutely, but there is still a tiny little bit of noise left.
