Unfortunately that trend is usually the case.

However, it isn't here. The 2012 Versa is .6" shorter than the last generation.
Probably because the Versa was already biggest in class and on the verge of being in the compact class. They really can't make it any bigger.

My mom just totaled her new 2012 Versa sedan. 3 weeks old and it only had about 200 miles on it.

She said the car suddenly gunned it (WOT). The car either rolled over or to one side (not clear from the phone call I got from her). But she said she had to crawl out from the back window.

The good news is that no one was hurt.
