2016 Civic

The all new Civic was caught totally uncovered before next week's unveiling. Who just left it parked on a street? Clearly, Honda is making up for the disgraceful current model. Looks bigger and more upscale for the class. Pretty nice job although I'm not overly crazy about the overly chopped rear. Fits the trend but makes it look more like a hatch and really makes for a smaller trunk opening.

Much nicer than the 2012-2015 eyesore Civics. Minor quibbles aside (rear lights look sort of weird from side view), that is probably the overall best looking Civic to-date (looks like it has borrowed some lines from its Acura ILX cousin). It makes the latest (also eyesore) Corolla look really subpar, and has more elegant proportions and body lines than the much-hyped latest-gen Mazda3. If I wanted a new compact sedan, instead of a subcompact hatchback like the YARIS SE, that would be at the top of my list. Honda has finally gotten something right style-wise, for a change.

I'm not crazy about the styling. It doesn't stand out. The new Hyundai Elantra looks better than this body style. Honda and Toyota just can't design.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as it stands out to me - without looking ridiculous at the same time. Most Korean styling (Hyundai, Kia, etc.) look childish and cheesy to me - like it was inspired by watching anime or the transformers (even the new Honda Fit falls into this category).

MUCH better though, IMO, than the ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS rear on the 2012-2015.

Based solely on the pics provided, I'd agree.

Sorry . I like the current generation Corolla S and still prefer the looks of the Corolla S to the pics Kal-El provided.

More elegant?....Yes.
Overall better look?.....Maybe .

I think it is pleasing and elegant (but you're right...it doesn't 'stand out'). Given who I often see driving them, IDK if 'not standing out' is bad.

Looks pretty good. Too bad it's not a hatchback! Hope it's offered with a conventional automatic transmission and not Honda's anemic CVT.

Not bad. The colour is a boring, but overall a nice looking car.

To me, it looks like they took a bit of design styling from the Kia Forte.

It looks like a new Honda Accord sedan married a new Mazda3 sedan and had children - which isn't a bad thing, since it looks better than both of those IMO.

It also looks to be as big as Accords used to be prior to 2008.

Given the particular picture you posted, I do see a bit of the Forte as well.

Google search: Honda Accord Coupé.

There is the source of your design queue. The styling has nothing to do with any other automaker. And especially not Hyundai-Kia...

Ignore the cosmetics and look under the skin at what matters. See the car for its mechanical merits rather than art academy regurgitation.

Steel and fastener quality? Suspension geometry? Hydraulic valve timing configuration? Turbocharger supplier, flange, housing, and wheel specification? Transaxle gearing?

Coming soon to America from the UK. That's where the hatchback will also be manufactured. Already for sale. And it's no looker.
