Arrow Turbo Help

So yea i have just allocated some funds and was thinking of putting together my own kit. Now to be honest my knowledge on the subject is limited. I plan on doing extensive research over the next two months while i gather the parts needed.

Now that being said.. i need a parts list lol

Write everything you can think of thats needed to complete a turbo kit(quality parts plz) I have no idea wat piping size and those things. I might just copy the zpi kit and use diff parts.

O to those who have done it how hard is it...Heard from a few that did custom turbo SI's that it was a pain but worth it.

Any help is appreciated.

I've posted my parts list 2 or 3 times -- should be pretty easy to find.

Answer these first:
1. How much money have you allocated?
2. What shop/tuner is going to handle the project?

1. $1,500 and change
2. Sigh... i live in gainesville 2 hours from Tampa, Tallahassee, and 1.5 from Orlando. There is a tunner here but dont think he does imports mainly domestic(93%).

I figure i would have to drive the car down to Orlando to have it tuned but then i dont kno + dont think it would be wise to drive untuned down there.
Of all the places to live in Florida i have to live in the country

Throw some ideas at me on what to do. Whether or not i should make my own or just buy one and swap out some parts. Be honest and blunt i can take it

o and cali i looked but to no avail dont see your list. i only see the list for your engine work.

for $1500, you need a kit that doesn't require tuning or dyno time.

Something in the 5-6 psi range, maybe a stage 0 kit (no intercooler).

GT25 turbo, internal wastegate
oil/water lines
turbo exhaust mani
downpipe
air/fuel gauge, boost gauge
BOV
piping as needed
injectors as needed (might not with that low boost)

fabricate, bolt on, have nice day.

If you don't have a nice day -- the PROJECT begins, and the nearest tuner is pretty far away.

But....you can always take it off - go for it!

is it safe to run with no IC cause its gonna be summer soon and i do live in Florida.
As for the pipping i have no idea wat the measurements are wat angle to bend them and such. I mean i can design the thing in ProE( i took autocad) and have them make it.

No IC means it won't make as much power, but you can run a turbo that way.
Piping will require a shop to measure and make it for you, after deciding on the routing.

As you said, you have a couple of months of research and learning to do. If you do that homework, you can make more informed choices and you'll be knowledgable enough to supervise any work someone else does.

Keep in mind that if you want to make big power down the road you'll probably need that intercooler.

If I were you I'd spend the next two months looking for a deal on a standalone. Get that and 2 grand together and you can have a LOT of fun.

I'm fantastic at SPENDING money.

Based on the first few posts, this OP is not going to be wiring up a standalone anytime soon, nor does he have access to (or the money for) the talent needed for that nearby.

My recommendations are based on his budget and that he's not super experienced (yet!) at this type of project.

Your closest and best shops are either gonna be Central Florida Turbo, or Extreme Boost. Both being in Orlando,; Titan Motorsports is another big name shop, but they might be pricey. Central Florida Turbo has been in business forever it seems and they are HIGHLY experienced with boost. Titan is mainly doing Toyota Supra platforms, but I am sure they would love to take a small toyota under their wing.

Extreme boost is a high grade fabrication shop, they specialize in turbo upgrades that provide awesome gains with no CEL... they also do custom work from intake manifolds and header setups. I plan to go talk with them soon about trying to revive the idea of producing an intake manifold for the Yaris.

Standalone is way out of my knowledge cap i still dont even understand completely the basics of tuning like wats is considered right and efficient
I really cant imagine running it with out a IC ($70) unless it had enough fuel to cool it down. It was fing 95 degress yesterday
Ehh what kinda shop we talking about to measure it? Like muffler shop or a tuner shop?
O and CFT i kno they are really good at wat they do cant belive i forgot about them

Thanks to every1 thats helping out with this.

To do this with $1,500 and "Quality" parts you will need to be very creative to keep cost down....

Use steam pipe for the manifold, look for a T25 turbo out of a nissan or K03 from a VW. A takeoff from a WRX could work too.

Get some TC injectors

Ebay cooler and a set of bends. Go for 2" diameter pipe.

If you are not going to do much tunning you can get a EGT gauge instead of a wideband.

Tamago could help you..... he knows the engine and the car. It would probably save you money and time down...

tamago has everything you need to do a turbo kit on your car.. but you'll have to modify your wiper tray and a few other things as well.

That would certainly be the most painless solution. The setup is pretty cool too. TMIC on a Yaris... wooooooot.

His sig has a pic of it installed (or tested) in a yaris.

buy his kit, do some small mods to the wiper tray.

you could cut the hole in the hood later if you don't want to do it now.

best buy/option/setup.

especially with your limited budget.

if you wanted to upgrade all you need is a WRX fitment turbo and you're golden.

VF39 off an STI is a great turbo for the 1nzfe.

;)
