I heard of something like that on another forum. The guy lowered his car and trans went out shortly after. He replaced the trans, and that one went out. He replaced it two more times afterwards with the same result. He took it to a mechanic and the mechanic said it was b/c it was too low and something about the axle angle. This was on a CRX

You should be ok though, i've lowered every car i had and never had a trans go out on me.

Never heard of a single problem with springs and the Yaris.

that usually only happens if you slam the car to the ground incorrectly, if you just bought lowering springs, most are around 2" drop max so you'll be fine.

The kind of drops you get with these sorings will not hurt your tranny at all. That only happens when people cut springs drastically and put strain on the driveshafts where they weren't meant to have it.
What these springs do is lower the center of gravity, but the forces on the axles are identical to oem suspension. You'll be fine, and your brother will be jealous.

the worst it can do, if installed correctly, is create excessive wear on the CV's
from the 'non-standard' angle of the propeller. 1 inch in these little CV's are ok,
but 2 inches would wear them out faster (YMMV)... but tranny problems ? I doubt the actual
transmission is affected
