If Its Not Blown It Sucks
|
Will the prius engine bolt up??
I've read about the piston swap but what about the whole engine? Can the block be bolted directly to the yaris transaxle? Isn't the electric portion just an add-on between the engine and transmission? Just thinking if one could just throw a junkyard Prius engine ( high compression) under the hood and bolt up the ancillaries.

this question would require knowing whether or not you are talking auto or manual.

How about the Atkinson process and the iirc low torque on low RPM?
The prius has a CVT to be able to run at high enough RPM most of the timr and sone electric torque support.

You guys clearly have no clue on how the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive works.
The prius engine is not simply a high compression engine, it uses high compression pistons to compensate for the simulated Atkinson cycle the camshafts create. The transaxle is only continuously variable because it has 3 inputs into a planetary gear set, the ICE, MG1 and MG2. Yes, the engine will "bolt up" to whatever yaris transmission you want because its the same 1NZ block but the computer will not be able to run it. |
