Question 2010 Yaris purchase

Hello,
I am planning on buying my first new car and totally fell in love with the Yaris. The sad thing is that very few dealers seem to have the 2010 3 dr liftback in stock in California (Bay area). I recently got a quote for an automatic 3 dr Yaris with power package (red, exactly the one I want) for $15722. It seems that very few cars are being allocated this month. In addition, there are no incentives this month. But, the issue is that I really need this car by early November at the latest. What do you think I should do, get the $15722 one, or wait another month in the hope that the price will come down or that there might be holiday incentives for the Yaris?
Thanks,
Ronie

try to get a 2009 with no or little miles, 15.7k is too much in my opinion.

if you are set on the 2010, then go for it if you need it soon, otherwise I would either wait for a drop or incentives, or get a previous year.

I would try several dealers.

Price you quoted seems a bit high, even for us in the Bay Area.

Good luck and let us know how the search goes!

+1

Based on what I've read on this thread, there's doesn't seem to be a clear reason to go for a 2010 model. I would just go for an '09 and mod the crap out of it.

You are probably paying an extra $1000 for that auto tranny,i'd wait till you get exactly what you want as you will probably be stuck with it for the next 5+yrs

When I bought my liftback I hadn't even given the Sedan a second thought. Now that I've been a member of yarisworld for a while and seen pictures of quite a few sedans I've realized that it has its own design perks and is a sweet looking car as well.

My point is give it a lot of thought which model you want, sedan or liftback. Then, make sure you get a manual transmission. It helps significantly with price, climbing hills, and maximizing the small 1.5L engine in the car.

If I were you I would try and call Toyota Corporate and see what a 2010 should cost. If you were to grab a 2010 Yaris and show up to the Bay Area meets it would be awesome.

Needless to say though, new Yarii have been harder to find than a TV remote these days so it's going to take a bit of dedication no matter your choice to get the one you want. But take my advice and make sure you don't compromise on what you want. I know to this day I still wish I had gotten one in Black instead of Meteorite.

Good luck on the search and keep us updated. Also, if you need help locating a 2010, post in the California forums and I'm sure users would be more than happy to call local Toyota dealerships and ask them if they have any 2010s in stock.

I wish I could have gotten the little silver meteorite Yaris I first saw on the lot in Berkeley. Man, that was a beautiful car!!

I was looking on line last night at Hansel Toyota, Petaluma and they have NO YARII at all!!!! None! When I ws there 6 months ago, they had like 20 on the lot!!!

They are disappearing left and right. This is an awful shame for us Yarii enthusiasts. Can't recruit people into the ranks when Toyota won't manufacture the car in the first place for people to buy

Smile Thanks for the tips

Hello all,
After thinking about it I decided to give myself some time and wait until the Bay area gets fully allocated to get a better comparison of prices.
Best,
Ronie.

Ooops... I messed up!!! Didn't notice the "edit" button right there, my bad!!! Sorry 'bout that!

I meant great decision! Rushing to buy anything rarely results in saving any $$. We'll be here if you have any more questions! Good luck with the search.

All the cars were bought under the cash for clunkers. It will take some time for the inventory to recover. But don't look at the prices to be as low as a year ago.

If you find one you like, you are probably going to have to pay whatever carmax offers. Good luck!

the sad truth is imo that Yarises will never be plentiful

.......as long as they come from Japan.........dollar/yen exchange rate just not advantegous to importing them at this point with entry level pricing

That's something I actually view as a plus.
Who wants to have the same car as the neighbor?

True on that point, but the Yaris coming from Japan is a real beneficial to the owner of the car. Some of the Toyota's when they started to assemble here and manufacture some parts tended to have some problems. The previous models or successors to these Toyota vehicles did not. The new Tundra has had a few recalls and its predecessor the T100 () did not have much or at all.... And the new Tacoma has had a recall or two, compared to the indestructible 96 Tacoma and the Toyota pickups 79-95...

EDIT: Since August 2008, I'm seeing a lot of Yaris on the roads now....kind of makes me sad now that its becoming common :(
I bought it to stand out, but whatev~
