Car Tent

In Canada they sell a Car Tent for the Yaris... Has anyone else seen this?

I found a place that sells it cheaper then Toyota (Of Course)

Oh Whaaaaaa~

I'm sorta confused of why people would get this.
What significant value and use does this tent have over a regular tent?
Please help clarify my confused little mind.

Air Conditioning Fool!

You can run your car all night and run the air conditioning and listen to your nature sound CD collection.

:P

I was thinking that at first too. I was also thinking that you could set up a tv and other things in the back, plugged into your car with an adaptor....however, that and the air conditioning would require that you actually have the car running, as you said. Aside from environmental impacts, im wondering what all that carbon monoxide would do to you?

So i suppose it could work but two things: bring some extra gas.

route the carbon monoxide away from your tent

I guess one possiblity would be to devise a little flip out wood portion so you can open the trunk, flip out the wood and extend the bed. Then have some thick foam covered in a layer of memory foam cut to match the bottom of the car, on which you will have kept your stuff while traveling, unload your stuff into your tent and sleep on the nice mattress filling up the back of your yaris, you could also have a few chairs sitting in the tent to watch a TV in your yaris and if its cold you can run heat all night wth the monoxide routed away from your tent and some extra gas. You could probably idle most of the night and get a nice comfortable place to sleep for 20 bucks? just a thought. Plus in the morning you can drive out and leave your gear in your tent covered and shut and your car is pretty empty with a bed in the back. that means its time to for traveling up the mountain to find a good spot and have some crazy sex in your yaris under the stars or over the treetops, or both.

The Yaris is a weather safe, and water proof "extra" room on the tent. Gives you access to all your gear at night without leaving the tent and you could listen to music and operate other 12v gear (TV, coffee maker, microwave, etc..) on the back deck.

It's really pretty cool
