Bent rim
Hello all,
I hit curb yesterday and my front passenger side rim is slightly bent. Pictures are attached. Do you think I need to get it fixed asap ? It still drives normal. Thank you. |

probable OK at low speeds, but being out of true will affect tire wear and will most likely shake/vibrate at high speed.
If you can find someone to repair the rim, good. Otherwise consider replacing it. Also a good idea to chech the wheel alignment after a hit like that.

Should put up a pic with the hubcap off. Can't see actual damage to wheel. Many potholes strikes result in lip damage but still are not severe enough to throw the wheel out of true. You say it still drives normal and the bead seal has obviously not been compromised so ultimately, you are the judge.

Just go to the wreckers and get a used rim. They might even be able to swap the tire for you.
And hitting the rim on the side like that probably means you'll need an alignment too. |

I have done the same thing. I have seen about a dozen at work that bad or worse. Half the time it seems just fine. The other half the wheel bearing starts humming eventualy. IDK what kind of bearing toyota uses but it's dam good. It will hum a bit for 30,000 mi is some cases before getting worse. They seem to be dam sturdy to these hits. Alignment is more often than not unaffected. The problem that does happen most often is the tire ends up with a slow leak. You bring it to get fixed the shop usually will not fix it without a rim. Basically the end result 80% of the time is you need a rim. Best to just bite the bullet and replace the rim, have the alignment checked. It's inexpensive, protects you from bigger future expenses. In the big picture of what the incident could have cost you got off easy!
