Better Lower Grill for Cheap!

I really do not like the "X's" lower grill. looks cheesy and does not have good coverage. I purchased a grill from the dealership (@$15) and a gutter guard from home depot for $4. flattened gutter guard.

then I trimmed mesh to fit grill and cut out space for bumper clips:

then removed plastic X's and trimmed mesh to fit properly:

then I used DEI SS zip ties to secure in place. I used these zips because of their durability and their super thin profile. (about 1/2mm)

then a some final coats of paint and clear coat:

I will post some pictures of it installed when it gets warmer out

it will go on soon. I also painted the upper grill the same gloss black, and plan to do the foglight/duct covers and steel wheels with the same black. we'll see if next weekend is 70 or 20. it might be in the exhaust shop, then it would be a week later. well, I do need to do the rear end work too, so it might be even a few weeks after that. should be in before April... :)

Nice. You could even cut out the "T" grill.

i was going to do that, but since the +09 has a black grill, and most other cars have black grills, the white bumper grill added a slight level of uniqueness...

cutting out the T grille would make the bumper to be weak?

no. the opening is not large enough to cause flex. if you were careful and did not cut the tabs, the grill would add support.

Wow. I used gutter gaurd in the grille of my 94 caravan 15 years ago to achieve that grillecraft look

Glad its still being done

yep. $3.95 and $12 for the SS zip ties. ($15 for a new grill so i could build it without removing first, in case i damage or something)
