ride height with new suspension bits - Toyota Yaris Forums

Just installed this past friday.. Tokico Reds/ Progressive Springs and Ultra
sway bar.
Working the suspension before I take in for an alignment.

Couple of questions:
1. are front and rear ride height supposed to be different?
2. What should I expect in terms of handling characteristics?

I noticed body roll was minimized alot with this sway bar.
understeer seems more pronounced now when taking corners(not very spirited driving)

the rear will go lower. that's normal. as for driving, your handling will become more predictable. basically you turn where you want the car to go, and the car goes, even when you are doing a spirited run.

Looks good when you lower it. Since you lower it the installed the rear sway bar...might as well go for more handling upgrade. UR strut bar, UR front lower 4 point bar, UR rear strut bar, rear lower bar. I didn't even lower my car but it handles tight.

no offence at all but i want to point 1 thing.

i recently found out that on our cars, front strut tower bars (the one that goes in the engine bay) is completely for cosmetic purpose only.

Yaris has only 1 bolt sticking out from the front strut hat. Normally, other cars will have 2~3 bolts sticking out towards engine bay from the front suspension assembly. If the strut bar is bolted directly onto these bolts that originated from the suspension assembly, it will stablize and minimize the play between two front strut assemblies.

however, the yaris strut bar is not bolted onto the strut itself. it is simply bolted into holes around the top hat, and there is nothing beneath those holes.

in short, if you are solely making purchases for performance, you can skip the front strut tower bars.

Wrong, sorry. I have tested my car at the track with the front upper strut brace on and off from session to session on the same day.

It might not make a difference poking around town but it does increase rigidity between the two strut towers.

Don't feel bad darkmoon. I also read on one of the threads here that tower bars are mostly for cosmetics.. and I believed it. Until now.

Have put 750km's on the vehicle around town since suspension bits installed.
Taking the vehicle in for an alignment.
Hoping this will make the difference as I swapped with a fellah here in town.
I drove his stock 5dr/HB etc.. He drove mine. He figured his wasn't that much different.
Except the rear body roll when cornering. I have yet to adjust the shocks/struts yet. Will wait until after the alignment, then test with the on board go pro.. and watch from someone elses perspective.
Hawk Pads are in.. Will install tonight.

I installed my TRD sway-bar before the other parts and found it really tightened up the handling. Understeer was greatly reduced. A month later I added the springs and dampers which brought it all together beautifully. Very balanced now but still with slight understeer. I wouldn't mind trying Ultra's heavier (thicker) sway-bar just to feel the effect. Is your's the small or large diameter bar?

Booked in the alignment for next tuesday. Hope we can get this lil bugger sorted out!!
What springs did you go with?

Mines a TRD set-up. Springs, dampers and anti-sway bar.

I would suggest adding some negative camber up front if you plan to corner aggessively. With OEM spec. alignment my fronts are being eaten up from the outside inward.
