3rd Gen ECU Reflash

Friend bought a weird generic ecu reflash program from Russia to tune his 2ZZ XRS Corolla. It uses a tactrix openport and it can also read and write maps. It also can tune the dual VVTI. He had a lot of success with it on his car and the software states that it can tune any Toyota up to 2014. We were just messing around and we successfully read the map on my 2014 Automatic LE Yaris, but we didn't get to reflashing anything on it. I only have a intake and exhaust so I don't think it would be worth it for me to mess around with it. It also doesn't say if it works with automatic cars. I'm pretty sure it will void my warranty as well.

Any thoughts? I have never even heard of that weird Russian company. Need opinions on whether or not it would be worth it. I think this is the first I've heard of the Re-flash for our cars.

I was chatting with Barber about this. There is a guy in Puerto Rico who you can mail your ecu to that apparently has better results than Orange Tuning.

The OT tunes seemed to have fizzled out on the Lexus forums

I have emailed R9K tuned (the guy in Puerto Rico) about flashing my ECU and he said he just needs me to ship him my ecu and tell him what I want, its that simple. Forgive me if I am wrong, but I remember being quoted around $300. He have tons of success with the XRS, Corolla, Celica, and many V6 models as well. It is more than worth it, I am just waiting to have $$$ for the tune and an extra ECU so my vehicle has no down time.

I highly recommend it and it can be omtimized for mods as well such as intake, header, exhaust, etc. along with programming VVTI ramp and with a 2 step launch control option at whatever selected rpm. Not a bad deal. It can also increase redline, with a lover VVTI ramp and a higher redline your yaris could be that much more fun!

HKS F-Con Vpro, retains OBD2 and is just a piggy back, rather then burning out your ECU which controls alot more things then just VVT-i etc. just do a splice, dont go cheap on a car build and dont go cheap on an ecu, just do a piggyback and spend the extra money, make it a slow process.
